We have a IH 1486 in for painting and restoration.
First the tractor was serviced and then the old cab interior was removed and the wiring repaired.
The tractor gets a thorough pressure washing including all the parts that were removed. The roof re-assembled and then the cab was painted.
Interior parts including the seat frame, & door panels were sanded, primed & sanded again, before spraying with black paint. When the interior was completely painted and ready for the interior lining, the whole cab was covered with plastic and secured. The manifold elbow needed to be welded before the remainder of the tractor could be sprayed with International’s Red Rouge paint
All the tin has been prepped for paint by sanding & priming, then it was painted and a clear coat of protection was added. This clear coatwill protect the paint for many years and keep it looking like new.
Now that all the painting is done it is time to put the tractor back together, starting with the interior.
Below are the final pictures of this 1486. A new cassette player and AM/FM radio, speakers & CD Changer were installed, along with a new seat from Speer Cushion.
The restoration of the International came out real nice and it is ready for the fall harvest season at its home in the northeast corner of New York.
